Privacy Policy

Effective 15 July 2026

Parboil keeps your cooking data on your device and in your own iCloud account. Parboil does not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking, and the developer does not operate a server that receives your recipe library.

Data Parboil handles

Parboil stores recipes, recipe photos, collections, meal plans, grocery items, app preferences, and the display name you choose for household sharing. Cooking timers use Apple's alarm and Live Activity services when those features are available.

Your Parboil data is stored on your device. When iCloud is available, Parboil uses Apple CloudKit to sync your recipe library, recipe photos, collections, meal plans, grocery items, and household data through your iCloud account. App preferences and active timers stay on the device where you set them. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your iCloud settings.

Household sharing

If you choose to create or join a household, Parboil uses CloudKit sharing to make the household's recipes, meal plan, grocery list, and member display names available to its participants. Parboil shows the sharing consequences before you join. Other participants can view and edit shared data and may independently export or copy information they can access.

Recipe imports

When you import a public webpage, Parboil contacts that website to download the page and, when available, its recipe image. The website receives a normal web request and may process information such as your IP address under its own privacy policy. Parboil processes the downloaded recipe on your device.

Photos and screenshots selected for import are processed on your device. They are not sent to the Parboil developer. If you save an imported photo to a recipe that syncs or is shared, that photo is stored in iCloud with the recipe.

Diagnostics and support

Sync diagnostics stay on your device unless you choose to share them. If you email support or request TestFlight access, the developer receives the email address, message, and attachments you choose to provide and uses them to respond to your request.

Parboil website

The public Parboil website is hosted by Vercel. Vercel may process standard request information, such as your IP address, browser details, and request timestamps, to deliver and secure the site. Parboil does not add analytics or advertising scripts to the site, and the site does not contain a signup form. TestFlight requests open your email app so you can choose what to send.

Your choices

You can use Parboil without joining a household. If iCloud is unavailable, the app keeps its library on that device. You can export your recipes, delete data in the app, leave a household, or disband a household you own. You can manage Parboil's iCloud data and permissions in Apple's system settings.

Deleting the app does not necessarily delete data already stored in iCloud. Information another household participant exported or copied is outside Parboil's control.

Children

Parboil is a general-audience cooking app and is not directed to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

This policy may be updated when Parboil's features or data practices change. A new effective date will be shown at the top of this page.
